PWC Clubhouse Update 22/09/2021

Dear DUC and DSBC Members

This coming Friday the weather and sea condition forecast is looking good for Heritage Day.

With relatively light offshore breezes and a just-after-springs low tide at 11am, the beach and ocean in front of the club should be putting on its best face for the holiday.

As the beaches from north of the Umgeni all the way up to Salt Rock are still closed due to the chemical spill, there will be extra people pressure at the central Durban beaches over the weekend, especially at our special Vetchs beach.

So, expecting a busy period at the club and its surrounds, let us recap some club etiquette:

  •  Club Parking will be at a premium – bring R25 in cash to make use of the pay parking if you plan to be at the club after 7am on the weekend
  • Share the braai stands with your fellow members – a great way to meet, greet and grow your social base of mates at the club
  • You can bring your own meat, but no drinks to be bought to the club – the club reserves the right to inspect cooler boxes
  • Salads and rolls will be available from the kitchen on Heritage Day for those that want to braai – see menu specials below
  • Limit the amount of non-member guests that you invite to the club to help ease the strain on the club resources and facilities on busy days.
  • If you are braaiing please bring braai utensils, plates and cutlery. You will not be able to get more than 10 empty plates from the kitchen. The club will provide braai stands and charcoal

NB: The club will be operating on Public Holiday hours on Friday 24th (same as Sunday hours) – see club hours attached. There is no dinner on Friday as kitchen closes at 17h45.

Boating and Fishing Updates

Boat inspection weekend 27th and 28th November

On this weekend, the club safety officers will offer their services to assist club boating members with their annual boating Certificate of Fitness (COF) for 2022.

Please Check out https://www.durbanskiboatclub.co.za/safety/ for the requirements and paperwork so you can start getting your act together before the inspection dates. Trying to do it all on the day inevitability leads to disappointment and delays.

For any queries in this regard, you can contact Skinny: derrickferreira56@gmail.com or Ryan: ryan@durbanyamaha.co.za

Save the date – Durban Ski Boat Club Festival Friday 29th April to Sunday 1st May 2022

After two years of disappointment, this event is back and eagerly anticipated. As you can imagine, the past 18 months has left its mark on the traditional sponsors of this event. If you are fortunate enough to have the resources to contribute to the value of the DSBC Festival in return for exposure to not only the participants of the event but also to all the public spectators that are now able to witness the event from the promenade due to our new beach front location, please contact Hilton: hilton.kidger@liblink.co.za

Toy Story Appeal

Our kids play area needs some input and upgrade. If you have some toys (especially educational), books, kids furniture, etc looking for a hand-me-down home, please consider the club as a possible recipient.

We look forward to seeing you at the club
