PWSC Update 16/04/2021
Dear DUC and DSBC Members
This coming weekend at the club is focused on the social side with live music everyday and a bring and braai on Saturday where members are encouraged to mix and meet their fellow members while the kids hit the beach.
Remember the club is a licenced premises so no drinks can be bought to the club from your private COVID emergency stock but you are welcome to bring your own steaks to braai.
Braai stands are provided and members are encouraged to share their braais so that as many members as possible can be accommodated as well as giving members the opportunity to break the ice with their fellow tong masters around the braai.
Head’s up club hours for long weekend 24th to 27th April
The Club will be open on Monday 26th and 27th April with Public Holiday hours as per the club hours attached (essentially not open for dinner).
Surf Ski Rack repair update
Although upgrade work is still ongoing with the rack storage sheds, rack holders are welcome to return their craft to their racks. Please ensure that you are in the correct rack allocation and if not sure, then please check with Paul in the club office.
- There are a few racks occupied by “unknown” craft. These will be removed within the next week, so please make sure that your craft has an identification sticker. These are available from Paul in the club office.
Passing of ex DUC Chairman Peter Gibson
Peter was one of the DUC’s founding members. He passed away last week Thursday 8 April at his home in the town of Prince Albert in the Western Cape at the age of 83.
Peter wanted more than anything to visit the new club, but due unfortunately to lockdown and covid in 2020 and then the onset of illness, he was unable to come. The DUC meant a great deal to him and he was immensely proud of what now stands in its place in the form of the PWC. He was a civil engineer, too, which made the growth and evolution of the club even more rewarding for him to see, if ultimately only from afar.
Should any members wish to contact Peter’s family , they can do so through Peter’s son Jonathan:
