The Point Water Sports Club which houses the DSBC and DUC memberships has well over 7000 combined members and hosts a number of large, well supported water sport related events each year.

DSBC will be hosting the inter-club fishing competition on the 13-15 March where not only will club members be present but also members of other clubs, offering a unique opportunity to market products to the wider water sport community.

Another big event on the club calendar is the annual DSBC Festival which this year is held on 24 – 26 April. This event attracts fishermen and their families from all over the country and the club is effectively “open house” over this period and members of the public are encouraged to come and support this event. Weigh-in times are always well attended and photographed, so marketing opportunities abound at this event.

In about July each year, PWC also hosts the Open Ocean Surf Ski Challenge for which the title sponsor since inception has been Bay Union. Because of the prize money structure and race unique race formats, this series is one of the most popular on the local surf ski race circuit and has always attracted generous sponsorships from members and companies alike.

Other club events such as beach clean ups are conducted on a regular basis and participating companies can earn social responsibility brownie points for supporting these events. The club also has an active social membership component which has seen Sharks Rugby, amongst others, support the club in return for the club’s support – just how it should work!

The club membership consists of plenty of members of the business community in Durban and its surrounds. If you ask around you will be surprised how many people you know or come into contact with daily are PWC club members. Raise your company profile and image by supporting and marketing through PWC.

To support and raise the profile of water sport, to keep us a cut above the rest and to run successful events, support and sponsorships are needed. In return, the club offers high profile events with a built in participant support and a receptive market.
